The purpose of the term paper is to take the general sociological patterns discussed in class and the readings and to see how well they apply to a specific person you interview.

You have a choice of one of two topics:

• Survival strategies of poor single mothers to make ends meet
• "Class consciousnesss" and unionization among the working class
